ICE arrests Puerto Rican man for alleged distribution of child porn and sexually enticing minors

SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico – Alexis Negron-Cruz, 36, of Caguas, Puerto Rico, was arrested on Saturday by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement's (ICE) Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) special agents for alleged distribution of child pornography and sexually enticing a minor.

"ICE HSI aggressively uses its investigative authorities to protect our communities from those who seek to sexually exploit the most vulnerable members of our society - our children," said Roberto Escobar Vargas, special agent in charge of ICE HSI in San Juan. "ICE HSI will continue to aggressively pursue and hold accountable individuals involved in this vile behavior who mistakenly believe the Internet shields them from detection."

After the arrest, and as part of the investigation, ICE HSI special agents executed a search warrant at Negron-Cruz's residence and seized approximately 35 items including desktop computers, laptops, thumb drives DVDs and CDs.

Negron-Cruz had his initial appearance before Magistrate Judge Marcos Lopez on Monday. He faces a sentence of up to 10 years in prison if found guilty in a court of law.

This case is part of Operation Predator, an ICE-led initiative to protect children from sexual predators, including those who travel overseas for sex with minors, Internet child pornographers, criminal alien sex offenders, and child sex traffickers. Individuals with information about suspected child predators are encouraged to call 1-866-DHS-2ICE. For more information, visit www.ice.gov.
