ICE removes Guatemalan fugitive wanted for kidnapping

MINNEAPOLIS — U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement's (ICE) Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) St. Paul Field Office removed an unlawfully present foreign fugitive on July 6 wanted in Guatemala for kidnapping, following a joint ERO St. Paul, Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) Omaha operation.

Guatemalan national Juan Lorenzo-Felipe, 25, was flown from Omaha, Nebraska, to La Aurora International Airport, Guatemala, on a flight coordinated by ICE’s Air Operations Unit. Upon arrival, the fugitive was turned over to Guatemalan officials.

Juan Lorenzo-Felipe illegally entered the U.S. without inspection on an unknown date and at unknown location. On June 12, 2018, the U.S. District Court, District of Arizona convicted Lorenzo-Felipe of illegal entry in violation of 8 U.S.C. 1325 and sentenced him to time served. On June 22, 2018, ICE removed Lorenzo-Felipe to Guatemala via Phoenix, Arizona.

Lorenzo-Felipe illegally reentered the U.S. without inspection on an unknown date and at unknown location.

On Feb. 16, the Government of Guatemala issued an Interpol Red Notice for Lorenzo-Felipe for kidnapping.

On Feb. 24, special agents with the HSI office in Omaha requested ERO assistance in location and apprehension of Lorenzo-Felipe for suspected illegal entry in violation of 8 U.S.C. 1325.

On March 1, ERO St. Paul arrested Lorenzo-Felipe and on May 26, 2022, the U.S. District Court, District of Nebraska convicted Lorenzo-Felipe of reentry in violation of 8 U.S.C. 1326(a) and sentenced Lorenzo-Felipe to time served. He remained in ICE custody until his removal from the U.S.
