Louisiana legislature honors ICE and its partners as part of Public Service Recognition Week

As part of national Public Service Recognition Week, the Louisiana House of Representatives honored U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement Thursday with a House Resolution commending an ICE Homeland Security Investigations task force in Louisiana for its efforts fighting human trafficking and other cross border criminal activity throughout the state.

State Representative Valarie Hodges, Vice Chair of the Louisiana House Select Committee on Homeland Security, introduced the resolution on the House floor Thursday to commend Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) and its federal task force partners within ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO), U.S. Customs and Border Protection and numerous state and local agencies.

Celebrated the first week of May since 1985, Public Service Recognition Week honors the men and women who serve our nation as federal, state, county and local government employees.

“Border security is a national security issue and these guys here fight this every single day, and it is an honor for me to work with them,” said Rep. Hodges to HSI, ERO and state task force personnel on the House floor. “We just want to honor you and tell you how much we appreciate you.”

Louisiana House Resolution 176, signed by Louisiana House Speaker Taylor F. Barras, states “be it resolved that the House of Representatives of the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend Homeland Security Investigations within the Department of Homeland Security for its outstanding work in combatting criminal organizations participating in all types of cross border criminal activity.”

HSI Baton Rouge Resident Agent in Charge Ron Militana and ERO New Orleans Assistant Field Office Director Brian Acuna accepted the resolution on the House floor for ICE along with CBP Baton Rouge Port Director Pat Tyrell and Task Force Commander Lawrence Callender.
