Ohio man charged in Indiana with possessing more than 5 kilos of cocaine

FORT WAYNE, Ind. — An Ohio man was charged this week with possessing with intent to distribute more than five kilograms of cocaine, announced U.S. Attorney David Capp, Northern District of Indiana.

This investigation was conducted by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s (ICE) Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), with the assistance of the Allen County (Indiana) Sheriff’s Department, Greenville (Indiana) Police Department, Indiana State Police, and the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA).

Uryan Frymire, 37, of Ohio, was charged with possession with intent to distribute more than five kilograms of cocaine.

According to documents in this case, a Jan. 17 traffic stop was conducted in Texas of a semi-trailer and 62 packages (about 70 kilograms or 154 pounds) of a white powdery substance were found. The substance field tested positive for cocaine.  The driver, who was the only occupant, said he was destined for Fort Wayne and Chicago to deliver the cocaine. The driver agreed to deliver 17 kilograms of cocaine to Fort Wayne. On Jan. 19, the driver made a “controlled delivery” to Frymire, who was arrested by HSI special agents.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office emphasizes that a criminal complaint is merely an allegation and that all persons charged are presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty in court.

If convicted in court, any specific sentence to be imposed will be determined by the judge after a consideration of federal sentencing statutes and the Federal Sentencing Guidelines.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Stacey R. Speith, Northern District of Indiana, is prosecuting this case.
