The United States removes foreign nationals – according to U.S. law – who lack a lawful basis to stay in the United States. This policy applies to all noncitizens regardless of nationality.

In June 2018, the 29-year-old Brazilian citizen was granted entrance into the United States for six months under a visitor visa, but he remained in the country for five years beyond the visa’s terms.

ERO Newark arrested nine noncitizens with criminal records and ties to South American theft groups in New Jersey on June 8.

Manuel Ochoa-Vasquez, 39, of Paso Hondo, Mexico, pleaded guilty on Dec. 15, 2022, to conspiracy to transport illegal aliens for profit and conspiracy to commit money laundering.

ERO New York City removed Denon Amen Osunde, a Nigerian national, from the United States to Nigeria on June 5.

This new system gives noncitizens the option to update their information online in addition to the existing options of doing so by phone or in-person. It will enable noncitizens to comply with their immigration obligations more easily and improve the accuracy of address information reported to ICE by utilizing address autofill to ensure U.S. Postal Service standardization.

Roberto Cruz-Moreno, 23, of Woodbridge; Marvin Torres, 22, of Manassas; Kevin Perez-Sandoval, 25, of Warrenton; and Jose Rosales-Juarez, 32, of Manassas, were sentenced to prison terms ranging from 10 to 20 years for drug distribution, racketeering, and their roles in two attempted murders in Prince William County in 2019.

The 22-year-old man is the subject of an active Interpol Red Notice and was sentenced to 15 years in prison in Minas Gerais, Brazil, in October 2022.

ERO Philadelphia removed Jose Benedicto Mojica Aldana to El Salvador on an ICE Air Operations charter aircraft June 9.

Local police arrested a 35-year-old Ecuadoran man last month and charged him with multiple felonies, including two counts of indecent assault and battery on a child under age 14, one count of kidnapping of a child, and a misdemeanor charge of assault and battery. A local criminal court in Brockton released him on pretrial conditions following his arraignment.

Arman Grigoryan, 42, was sentenced late in the afternoon June 6 by U.S. District Judge Dolly M. Gee, who also ordered him to pay $2,880,259 in restitution.

A judge sentenced Thomas Beck, 46, to more than 19 years for distribution of child sexual abuse material following an investigation conducted by HSI with the assistance of the San Antonio Police Department, the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office and ERO San Antonio.

In Arizona, law enforcement took approximately 52 disruption actions against those responsible for facilitating a range of fraud schemes, including romance and lottery schemes.

Olegario Lares-De La Rosa, 30, of Mexico, was convicted of conspiracy to commit hostage taking, conspiracy to transport illegal aliens for profit, transportation of illegal aliens, and felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition after a jury trial in February 2023.

According to the indictment and other court records, Jose Luis Avalos aka “El Gordo,” 40, of El Paso, Texas, allegedly led the human smuggling operation. Avalos and his wife, Kristina Hardin, 41, also of El Paso, were arrested June 1 in El Paso, and detention hearings are set for June 7 to determine whether they will remain in custody pending trial, which has not been scheduled.

On May 31, a federal grand jury returned an indictment charging Christopher Joel Rabell-Pineiro, 25, of Canovanas, with production of child sexual abuse material and child exploitation. Authorities arrested Rabell-Pineiro on June 6.
