Kyle J. Tate, 34, of Seattle was arrested following the execution of a search warrant at his home. He made his initial appearance in U.S. District Court in Seattle Friday afternoon and was ordered detained pending a hearing next week.

James Gregory O’Neill, 58, was sentenced Monday afternoon by U.S. District Judge R. Gary Klausner. O’Neill pleaded guilty in January to possessing child pornography on his mobile phone in the spring of 2015.

Reynaldo Ramirez, 38, was arrested on a criminal complaint Dec. 24, 2015. The May 2 court heard that the case began when a CCPD detective was able to successfully download various files containing child pornography from an Internet Protocol address that was associated with Ramirez.

Derrick Jones, 45, of Arlington, was sentenced in U.S. District Court to 15 years in prison followed by 10 years of supervised release, and will be required to register as a sex offender upon release from prison. In January 2016, Jones pleaded guilty to receipt of child pornography and possession of child pornography.

Approximately 5,000 students from the public and private schools in Puerto Rico received tips on how to avoid falling victim to online sexual predators Wednesday and Thursday at the Complejo Ferial de Puerto Rico in Ponce. The presentation is the third child abuse prevention and education summit organized by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement's (ICE) Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) in San Juan, and one of largest Project iGuardian outreach since the inception of the initiative in March 2014.

Laron Carter, also known as “Birdd” and variations of that moniker, 39, was found guilty Wednesday afternoon by a federal jury following a five-day trial. The jury convicted Carter of seven counts of sex trafficking of a minor by force, fraud or coercion; and seven counts of transporting a child to engage in prostitution.

Upon his release from prison, Torrieri will be required to register as a sex offender and will be supervised by the court for the rest of his life. Special Assistant U.S. Attorney Josh F. Sigal prosecuted the case.

Luis Rivera, 19, of Irving, Texas, pleaded guilty in October 2015 to one count of conspiracy to commit sex trafficking of children. Last month, Rivera’s co-defendant, Brady Rodriguez-Cruz, aka Marcos Antonio Rodriguez-Mejia, 33, also of Irving, was sentenced by Judge Boyle to 293 months in federal prison.

HSI special agents arrested Luis Melendez-Ramos, 21, and Byron Montijo-Maysonet, 29, following an investigation that stemmed from a referral by the PRPD Arecibo Sexual Crimes Division. The referral alleged that on or about Nov. 24, 2015, and Nov. 30, 2015, both men transported three female minors aged 13 and 14 to a local motel to engage in criminal sexual conduct.

Robert Kinney, Jr., 41, of Blaine, Maine was sentenced by Judge John A. Woodcock, Jr. to 15 years in prison and 15 years of supervised release for his role in sharing numerous images of child pornography. Blaine was also ordered to pay $6,000 in restitution.
