ERO New York City Fugitive Operations officers apprehended 32 unlawfully present noncitizens convicted of sex offenses during a nationwide law enforcement effort from Feb. 5 to Feb. 16.

ICE ERO and the Martin County Florida Sheriff’s Office arrested Juan Jose-Sebastian, 26, a citizen and national of Guatemala March 2, after determining he was wanted in Washington County, Oregon, on rape and sexual abuse charges.

Deportation officers with ERO Phoenix removed Jose Inez Garcia-Zarate, 49, a Mexican national who was removed on six previous occasions, via commercial air to Mexico March 1.

Deportation officers from ERO Boston removed Edimir Gustavo Eckelberg, 62, from the United States to Brazil Jan. 26. Eckelberg had been sought by Brazilian law enforcement authorities since his conviction for rape of a vulnerable child in May 2023.

Those included removal flights to Central America, Colombia, Ecuador, Jamaica, Mexico, Peru and South Korea.

Francisco Xavier Martins, 43, convicted of rape in Brazil, unlawfully entered the United States in May 2018 to avoid serving his prison sentence. Brazilian authorities have been seeking his custody since March 2019, and deportation officers from ERO Boston arrested him Dec. 5, 2023, in Malden.

ICE, a component agency of DHS, working in close coordination across the Department including with CBP, continued to facilitate removal flights of single adults and family units February 26 - 28.

The three women were charged with felony child endangerment; the alleged father was charged with manslaughter, three counts of second degree child abuse, and child endangerment.

Walter Gomes DaSilva, 52, was sentenced by U.S. District Court Judge Angel Kelley to an additional decade in prison following his current state sentence.

ICE's ERO Philadelphia removed Miramar Martins De Brito, a citizen of Brazil with a final order of removal, to Brazil on Feb. 23. Martins is a foreign fugitive wanted by law enforcement authorities in Brazil for drug trafficking.

In January 2023, ERO Baltimore lodged an immigration detainer against the Honduran noncitizen with the Montgomery County Detention Center in Rockville. However, the Montgomery County Detention Center refused to honor the detainer and released the noncitizen from custody three weeks later.

ICE ERO Philadelphia removed Miguel Angel Hernandez Moreno, a citizen of Colombia with a final order of removal, to Colombia on Feb. 13.

ICE ERO Seattle arrested 12 noncitizens with sex offense-related convictions during a nationwide law enforcement effort that netted 275 noncitizens that ran from Feb. 5 to Feb. 16.
