Enforcement and Removal Operations Philadelphia arrests Brazilian national wanted for homicide in Brazil
PHILADELPHIA — On Aug. 28, Enforcement and Removal Operations Philadelphia arrested Ramon Campidelis-Correia, a 28-year-old citizen of Brazil, at his residence in Philadelphia. Campidelis-Correia is wanted by authorities in Brazil for charges of homicide, drug trafficking and criminal organization.
“The detention and removal of criminal noncitizens such as Ramon Campidelis-Correia is the primary reason that ERO exists. We stop dangerous individuals that are illegally in the U.S. from harming American citizens,” said ERO Philadelphia Field Office Director Cammilla Wamsley. “I commend our hardworking and dedicated officers for bringing him to justice.”
Campidelis-Correia will remain in ICE custody throughout legal removal proceedings.
As one of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s three operational directorates, ERO is the principal federal law enforcement authority in charge of domestic immigration enforcement. ERO’s mission is to protect the homeland through the arrest and removal of those who undermine the safety of U.S. communities and the integrity of U.S. immigration laws, and its primary areas of focus are interior enforcement operations, management of the agency’s detained and non-detained populations, and repatriation of noncitizens who have received final orders of removal. ERO’s workforce consists of more than 7,700 law enforcement and non-law enforcement support personnel across 25 domestic field offices and 208 locations nationwide, 30 overseas postings, and multiple temporary duty travel assignments along the border.
In addition to its core interior enforcement mission, ERO also supports broader DHS efforts to manage irregular migration at the Southwest Border. During the last two years, ERO has provided logistical support for DHS enterprise operations at the border and has assumed critical duties related to increased irregular migration, including case processing and case management for recent border crossers, domestic ground transportation and repatriation flights.
