ERO Detroit arrests fugitive wanted for sexual abuse of a minor in Mexico
CLEVELAND — Deportation officers with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) Detroit Field Office apprehended a Mexican national in Akron, Ohio who is wanted for sexual abuse of minor in Mexico, Dec. 13, 2022.
An arrest warrant was issued in the state of Michoacan, Mexico, on May 3, 2021, for Jose Trinidad Montes-Solorio, a citizen of Mexico, for sexual abuse of a minor.
On Jan. 7, 2016, following an arrest for local charges an immigration judge from the Justice Department’s Executive Office for Immigration Review (EOIR) ordered Montes-Solorio removed from the United States. He was removed to Mexico five days later.
On an unknown date and location, Montes-Solorio re-entered the U.S. without being inspected by an immigration official.
ERO Detroit working with their Mexico City counterparts received information on Montes-Solorio’s illegal re-entry into the United States and his possible location.
“Working with our international partners, we were able to locate and apprehend this public safety threat,” said Matthew Putra, acting field office director, ERO Detroit. “Foreign fugitives evading justice will not find safe harbor in the communities of Michigan and Ohio.”
ERO Detroit arrested Montes-Solorio and served him with a notice of intent/decision to reinstate order on Dec. 13, 2022. Montes-Solorio is currently detained in ICE custody, without bond, pending removal.
The ERO Detroit Field office oversees sub-offices in both Michigan and Ohio.

In Fiscal Year (FY) 2021, ERO arrested 12,025 individuals with aggravated felony convictions. Offenses associated with noncitizens arrested in FY 2021 included 1,506 homicide related offenses, 3,415 sexual assaults, 19,549 assaults, 2,717 robberies, and 1,063 kidnappings.
