WASHINGTON - Deportation Officers from U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s (ICE) Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) Washington, D.C. field office arrested a documented member of the notorious MS-13 street gang wanted for aggravated homicide in his native country of El Salvador. Jorge Alberto Quintanilla Marquez, 42, was arrested outside his residence in West Springfield, Virginia, July 22. The arrest was the result of many months of work by ICE ERO with the assistance of the FBI.
Quintanilla entered the United States at an unknown location without admission or parole by a designated immigration official. According to Salvadoran authorities, a warrant for his arrest was issued in January 2007.
On May 23, ERO Washington received a lead referral for Quintanilla from the FBI regarding his potential presence in the area. An ERO Foreign Service National Investigator in El Salvador confirmed the existence of Quintanilla’s foreign arrest warrant on July 21 and the next day, Quintanilla was arrested and served with Notice to Appear.
Quintanilla will remain in ICE ERO custody pending the outcome of his removal proceedings.
