The enforcement activity began Saturday, June 1, when the San Luis Police Department (SLPD), while conducting traffic enforcement in the area of 10th Avenue and Juan Sanchez Boulevard in San Luis, Arizona, observed a vehicle speeding while traveling westbound on Juan Sanchez Boulevard approaching 10th Avenue. SLPD proceeded to initiate a traffic stop that resulted in the discovery of approximately 95 lbs. of methamphetamine and the arrest of Leon-Camberos.

Based on the quantity of seized contraband and the arrest, HSI special agents were contacted to continue the investigation. Based on the findings during the traffic stop and the subsequent investigation conducted by HSI special agents, a state search warrant was secured and executed at Leon-Camberos’ residence near Amarely Avenue that resulted in the additional seizure of 432.22 lbs. of methamphetamine, one AR-15 style rifle and one magazine, 14.88 lbs. of marijuana to include THC vape pens and approximately $15,295 in cash.

The defendant was presented and charged with multiple Arizona state drug charges including importation/transportation of dangerous drugs, misconduct involving weapons, and possession of narcotics for sale.
