Louisiana man sentenced to 10 years for receiving child porn

LAKE CHARLES, La. – A Louisiana man was sentenced this week to serve 10 years in federal prison and an additional 10 years of supervised release for receiving child pornography, following an investigation by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement's (ICE) Homeland Security Investigations (HSI).

Nathan John Meaux, 27, of Crowley, La., pleaded guilty in June 2011 to one count of receiving child pornography.

According to court documents, Meaux had been downloading and viewing child pornography for several years from his home computer.

A forensic analysis of materials seized during a federal search warrant executed at Meaux's residence revealed 342 images and videos of hard core child pornography depicting adults engaging in sexually explicit conduct with children.

Meaux admitted to downloading all of the images and videos found on his computer.

"This case reveals the disturbing truth that some adults will go to great lengths to sexually exploit minors," said Raymond R. Parmer, special agent in charge of ICE HSI in New Orleans.

"Unfortunately, we cannot restore lost innocence to those children who have been exploited by sexual predators," he said. "However, ICE HSI helps ensure that justice is served. Identifying and investigating those who victimize children is one of the most important responsibilities we have."

ICE encourages the public to report suspected child predators and any suspicious activity through its toll-free hotline at 1-866-DHS-2ICE. This hotline is staffed around the clock by investigators.
