Man sentenced to over 5 years for possession with intent to distribute meth following HSI, joint law enforcement partner investigation

LINCOLN, Neb. — Acting Special Agent in Charge of Homeland Security Investigations, or HSI, Kansas City Joshua Armstrong and Acting United States Attorney Steven Russell announced that Dallas Faamausili, 36, of Renton, Washington, was sentenced to more than five years in prison Thursday in federal court in Lincoln, Nebraska.

United States District Judge John M. Gerrard sentenced Faamausili after convicting him of one count of possession with intent to distribute 500 grams or more of a mixture or substance containing methamphetamine. Faamuausili’s sentence follows an HSI investigation involving the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration, the Seward County Interdiction Task Force and the Saline County Sheriff’s Office.

On May 26, 2021, a Seward County Sheriff’s deputy stopped Faamausili for a traffic violation on Interstate 80. Faamausili gave the officer consent to search his vehicle for illegal narcotics. The deputy noticed that the vehicle’s storage compartment was glued shut; when he eventually opened the compartment, he found several clear plastic packages containing suspected methamphetamine.

The deputy seized approximately 100 one-pound-sized bricks from the vehicle. Officials sent two bricks to a lab for testing. The lab determined that one brick contained 443.97 grams of methamphetamine and the other contained 446.57 grams. The lab also conducted purity testing and determined that the bricks contained at least 840 grams of actual methamphetamine.

Faamausili will be under supervised release for two years after completing his confinement. There is no parole in the federal system.
