Readout from US Immigration and Customs Enforcement meeting with America First Policy Institute
WASHINGTON — U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement Chief of Staff Michael Lumpkin met with America First Policy Institute representatives today to discuss immigration enforcement and the agency’s national security, public safety and border security mission.
ICE officials prioritize meeting with research organizations, nonprofits and other nongovernmental organizations to maintain transparency and foster an understanding of the agency’s apolitical mission, which is to enforce the immigration laws set forth by Congress. The agency’s continued success relies on strong communication with the American public.
ICE engages with stakeholders nationwide, including state, local, tribal and territorial governments, elected officials, and law enforcement professionals. Agency representatives also meet with private-sector entities, faith-based and activism-based organizations, and colleges and universities to help dispel myths and ensure future decisions that fall under ICE’s purview are fact-based and data-driven, humane and effective.
