US Immigration and Customs Enforcement to play key roles in IACP 2024
WASHINGTON — U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement announced Oct. 18 that officers from Enforcement and Removal Operations and special agents with Homeland Security Investigations will engage with chiefs of police and law enforcement officials from around the world by participating in the International Association of Chiefs of Police Annual Conference and Expo in Boston Oct. 19 through Oct. 22.
Field office directors, special agents in charge and other subject matter experts from ERO and HSI will take leading roles in 16 informational presentations. They’ll discuss emerging threats to public safety and national security, how local police can develop effective partnerships with immigration enforcement officials to keep their communities safe, and best practices for intelligence gathering.
In addition to cultivating relationships with local police, ICE ERO will discuss the importance of partnerships to the agencies national security mission and officials share information on many of the agency’s major initiatives. Sessions include those centered on the HSI-led Know2Protect campaign, the Center for Countering Human Trafficking’s efforts to curb sexual and labor exploitation, and efforts in stopping transnational criminal organizations at every level of operations. They’ll also cover topics such as the agency’s groundbreaking Victim Assistance Program, ICE’s proactive stance against Chinese money laundering operations, the opioid crisis, and modernization and transparency efforts like ERO’s statistical dashboard.
