Dr. Anthony Galea, 51, of Toronto, Canada, entered his guilty plea before U.S. District Judge Richard J. Arcara, and faces a maximum sentence of three years in prison, a fine of $250,000 and forfeiture of $275,000.

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) on Wednesday began using a federal information-sharing capability as part of the Secure Communities program in Callaway, Jefferson and Johnson counties to help federal immigration officials identify criminal aliens in state prisons and local jails by running their fingerprints against federal immigration databases when they are booked into the system.

ICE agents and officers, assisted by the Marion County Sheriff's Office in Florida, arrested Andy Vertoont, 31, a native of Belgium, at his place of employment in Ocala, Fla., on Nov. 12, 2010. ICE HSI special agents in Orlando had initiated an investigation as a result of a request for assistance from the Belgian Federal Police and the ICE HSI attaché office in Brussels.

Pabón-Santiago was charged and convicted with four counts of production of child pornography. From approximately June 2009 to December 2009, in Cabo Rojo, Puerto Rico, Pabón-Santiago employed, used, persuaded, induced, enticed and coerced two female minors and two male minors to engage in sexually explicit conduct. Specifically, lascivious conduct, that is, still images using a mobile phone with camera capabilities and a memory card, which had been mailed, shipped or transported in interstate or foreign commerce.

About 531 kilograms (1168 pounds) of cocaine with a street value of $16 million was seized from a St. Thomas residence on Monday by U.S. ICE's Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) and the U.S. Virgin Islands Police Department (USVIPD). In addition to the cocaine, ICE HSI special agents and USVIPD officers also seized two automatic pistols.
