ICE established the PERC in January 2015 to serve as a tactical force multiplier for the Law Enforcement Support Center (LESC) and ERO field offices nationwide. Located in Laguna Niguel, California, the PERC operates round-the-clock 365 days per year and takes appropriate law enforcement action upon aliens suspected, arrested, or convicted of criminal activity across the United States. After initial alienage determination is made at the LESC, trained law enforcement officers at the PERC manage the high volume of actionable criminal leads requiring immediate enforcement action.
The PERC protects and defends the United States by sharing timely and relevant ICE information with ERO field offices and law enforcement partners nationwide, issuing immigration detainers/request for notification on high-priority and high-risk criminal aliens. The primary users of the PERC are ERO and ICE field offices that benefit from real-time enforcement decisions and actions made by the PERC. Officers at the PERC support DHS’s overarching mission to enhance national security and public safety by furthering the removal process of priority criminal aliens from the United States.
