If you need information about a detainee that is housed at this facility, you may call (859) 431-4611 between the hours of 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. When you call, please have the alien’s biographical information ready, including first, last and hyphenated names, any aliases he or she may use, date of birth and country of birth. You may also visit the Campbell County Detention Center website.
Telephonic calling, “chirp” messaging, and video visitation are available through Combined Public Communications. There are three ways to place money on a detainee account. A kiosk machine is located in the lobby that accepts cash and credit cards (an additional fee is included in credit card transactions). Funds can also be added by contacting Combined Public Communications at (877) 998-5678 or visiting the website: www.inmatesales.com.
Detainees cannot receive incoming calls. If you need to get in touch with a detainee with an urgent message, you must call (859) 461-4611 and speak with the shift supervisor. You must have the detainee’s full name, alien registration number and your name and telephone number where you can be reached. If deemed urgent, the detainee will be given your message.
Immigration Court
For information about a matter before the immigration court, you may call 1-800-898-7180 to speak with them directly. Applications for relief from removal and other applications requested by the immigration judge must be filed directly with the immigration court.
Board of Immigration Appeals (BIA)
For information about a matter before the Board of Immigration Appeals (BIA), you may call (703) 605-1007 where you can obtain automated information or speak with a live representative during office hours.

To Post a Delivery Bond
Delivery bonds are posted when a person has been taken into ICE custody and placed into removal proceedings while in the United States. If you wish to post a bond for an alien detained by ICE, please visit www.ICE.gov/bonds and select “Click Here to Post a Bond.” When making a bond payment, you may be asked to certify whether you are a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, or currently in immigration proceedings.
Submitting a G-28
G-28s filed on behalf of detained non-citizens at this facility can now be accepted through the online platform ERO eFile. Facility staff will not have access to ERO eFile at this time; legal representatives should download copies of their submitted G-28 for any in-person or remote legal visit.

Contacting the Deportation Officer
To ascertain the identity of your client’s Deportation Officer, send a request to CHI-ERO-Detained@ice.dhs.gov to obtain that information. Please note that a G-28 must be on file for any information to be disclosed.
Friends and Family Visits
Campbell County Detention Center offers visitation with family and friends via video visitation, either on-site or over the internet.
Family and friends must register for an account in order to be able to set up a visitation over the internet or using the on-site monitors at the jail. This can be done in the jail lobby using the visitation kiosk or by going to https://inmatesales.com.
Visitation using the on-site monitors at the Detention Center, is available:
Monday through Thursday from 1 p.m. until 4:30 p.m.
Saturday and Sunday from 9 a.m. until 4:30 p.m.
To visit a detainee, you must be at least 18 years of age with a valid photo ID. Those under 18 must be accompanied by an adult. Record checks may be made, if considered necessary, to ensure the safety of the detainees, visitors, deputies and the facility. Anyone causing a disturbance or being unruly will be asked to leave the facility and may be banned from future visits.
All individuals visiting a detainee must be scheduled on the visit, additional individuals who are not scheduled will not be permitted to visit.
Visitation being done via the internet may be scheduled seven days a week between the following hours:
9 a.m. – 11 a.m.
12:30 p.m. – 5 p.m.
6:20 p.m. – 10 p.m.
There is a charge for each internet visit: $6.00 for a 15-minute visit and $10.00 for a 25-minute visit. This fee is charged to the visitor and not the prisoner.
When a visit is scheduled the detainee will be notified on the visitation kiosk in their housing area. Jail staff will not provide visitation information over the phone. All visitation is subject to being recorded and/or monitored. All individuals visiting a detainee must be scheduled on the visit, additional individuals who are not scheduled will not be permitted to visit.
Attorney Visits
Legal representatives (attorneys and/or paralegals) of detainees are authorized to visit their clients 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. All legal representatives must have a valid state issued identification and/or bar card to present at the time of entry.
Attorneys are permitted to bring in a laptop, to review discovery, and their personal cell phone. Internet access is not provided so any media for review must be placed on a device that can be inserted into the laptop for viewing. Attorneys are provided 24/7 access to their clients but those visiting during meal times may need to wait until after the meal pass is complete to see their clients.
A list of pro bono (free) legal organizations will be posted in all detainee housing units and other appropriate areas. This list shall be updated quarterly. If a detainee wishes to see a representative or paralegal from that organization, it is the detainee’s responsibility to contact them for an appointment.
Legal Calls or Video Teleconferencing
Legal calls are available through Combined Public Communications (CPC). Legal representatives may request to be placed on non-recorded phone list by contacting CPC at 1-877-398-7700.
Consular Visits
Consular officials may meet with their detained nationals at any time. It is requested that prior arrangements be made with the ICE Supervisory Deportation Officer to the extent possible, and that consular officials bring appropriate credentials when they come to the facility. Clergy Visits
Clergy may visit detainees at any time but must make prior arrangements with the facility religious coordinator.
Visiting Restrictions
- All family or other social visits are non-contact.
- No firearms or weapons of any kind are permitted in the facility.
- If visitors are or appear to be intoxicated, visitation will not be allowed.
- All visitors are subject to search while in the facility.
- Visitors are not allowed to pass or attempt to pass any items to detainees.
- Visitors are not allowed to carry any items into the visitation area.
Search Procedures (prior to or during all visitations)
All individuals requesting admittance to the facility or the visitation area are subject to a pat-down search of their person, an inspection of their belongings, and a metal scan search. Individuals refusing to cooperate with a reasonable search will not be admitted. No firearms or weapons of any kind are permitted. No electronic devices (cell phones, pagers, radios, etc.) are permitted in the secure areas of this facility unless approved by the jailer or his designee.
Commissary Funds
To place money on an inmate’s account for commissary use the public must either utilize the kiosk in the jail lobby or visit www.jailatm.com.
Detainee funds can also be sent through the mail with a money order. All money orders are to be made out to the Campbell County Detention Center. On the memo line, write the inmate's name and DOB, social or jacket number. The money order will be added to the inmate's account the day it is received. Please remember, all booking fees and charges for destroyed jail property MUST be paid off for money to be available for commissary.
All money orders mailed to the jail can only be received by U.S. mail, FedEx or UPS. It is recommended for those purchasing the money orders that they maintain a copy of the money order along with their receipts for your records. All money orders that are filled out incorrectly will be returned to sender. Money order can be sent to the following address.

Postal Mail
All mail being sent by a detainees friends and family (Non-Legal mail) must be addressed as indicated below, and must include the sender’s name and address. All incoming mail is subject to screening for contraband or violation of rules regarding content. Incoming mail is not read upon opening, only inspected.

Any mail that does not meet the below guidelines will be destroyed:
- All incoming mail must be addressed with the inmate and jacket number
- All incoming mail must have a return address on the envelope and the name of the sender
- All incoming mail must be no larger than 8 ½” x 11” (post card size), no thicker than light card stock, and must be able to be fed through a sheet fed scanner
- All incoming mail shall be opened and inspected or read to determine if contraband is enclosed or any violation of detention center rules has occurred, if such is found mail will be destroyed and not returned

- Cash, checks, money orders or any other forms of currency
- Threats of physical harm against any person or threats/details of criminal activity
- Plans to smuggle contraband into or out of the institution
- Information to formulate escape plans, to commit a crime or to violate a detention center rule
- Solicitation of gifts, goods, money, or things of value from individuals or entities other than family or established close friends
- Code or gang insignia
- Obscene language or drawings
- Information that, if communicated, would create a threat to the security of the detention center
- None of the following may be included or attached:
- Address labels
- Stickers
- Homemade cards
- Musical cards
- Non-white envelopes or paper
- Paintings
- Tracing paper
- Pages from coloring books
- Drawings in colored ink, marker, crayon or glitter
- Raised decorations
- Paint or the use of white out, glue or any other liquid form
- Pictures are the only enclosures permitted to be mailed to inmates
- Each inmate is allowed up to six (6) photographs per package, but these MUST be printed on photo paper
- Printouts from the internet, colored pages, and provocative material are not permitted and will be destroyed
- Provocative is generally defined as follows: “Causing annoyance, anger, or another strong reaction” or “arousing sexual desire or interest”

Detainees may send mail from the facility. Outgoing mail will be routed to the proper postal office within 24 hours of receipt by facility staff (excluding weekends and holidays).
Detainees are allowed to purchase stamps for use. Generally, there is no limit to the amount of correspondence detainees may send at their own expense. Indigent detainees (those who have no means of financial support and no funds in their facility account) will be provided postage allowance at government expense.
When detainees depart the facility or are transferred to another facility correspondence will be endorsed "Return to Sender" and returned to the post office.
All mail being sent by a detainees attorney or other legal representation must be addressed as indicated below, must include the sender’s name and address, and be clearly marked as “LEGAL MAIL”. All incoming legal mail is opened in front of the detainee and subject to screening for contraband or violation of rules regarding content. Legal mail is not read upon opening, only inspected.

The facility has a responsibility to protect the privacy and other rights of detainees and members of the staff. Therefore, interviews will be regulated to ensure the orderly and safe operation of the facility. Ordinarily, live television or radio interviews will not be permitted in the facility. For media inquiries about ICE activities, operations, or policies, contact the ICE Office of Public Affairs at ICEMedia@ice.dhs.gov.
Personal Interviews
A news media representative who desires to conduct an interview with a detainee must apply in writing to the Atlanta Field Office, Office of Enforcement and Removal Operations, indicating familiarity with and agreement to comply with the rules and regulations of the facility as provided to that person by staff.
Detainee Consent
A detainee has the right not to be interviewed, photographed, or recorded by the media. Before interviewing, photographing, or recording the voice of a detainee, a visiting representative of the media must obtain written permission from that individual.
All FOIA and Privacy Act requests must be submitted on form G-639 (Freedom of Information / Privacy Act Request) or in letter format. All requests must contain the original, notarized signature of the subject in question. Please complete the form G-639 thoroughly and if writing a letter, be sure to include the full name, any other names used, date of birth, place of birth, Administrative File Number (A-number) of the alien you are seeking information about, as well as your full name, address, and telephone number, so that we may contact you if we have any questions.
