ICE removes Guatemalan fugitive wanted for murder

MINNEAPOLIS — U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement's (ICE) Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) St. Paul Field Office removed an unlawfully present noncitizen foreign fugitive July 13, wanted in Guatemala for murder.

Guatemalan national Rogelio Franco Flores, 32, was flown from Omaha, Nebraska, to La Aurora International Airport, Guatemala, on a flight coordinated by ICE’s Air Operations Unit. Upon arrival, the fugitive was turned over to Guatemalan officials.

Franco Flores illegally entered the U.S. without inspection on an unknown date and at unknown location. On Sept. 26, 2021, officers from the Omaha Police Department arrested Franco Flores and booked him into the Douglas County Jail on charges of domestic violence with bodily injury. On Sept. 26, 2021, ERO St. Paul lodged a detainer on Franco Flores with the Douglas County Jail, pursuant to an active Interpol Red Notice for which he was wanted for homicide in Guatemala.

On Sept. 27, 2021, Franco Flores was arrested by ERO St. Paul after posting bond for his pending domestic violence charges.

An immigration judge with the Executive Office for Immigration Review issued a final order of removal for Franco Flores on June 15.
