Public Safety Operations

HSI is ready to defend public safety securing land, air and water through unprecedented collaboration and with one united front.

HSI provides comprehensive support, investigative capabilities and coordination for public safety operations, particularly at high-profile gatherings, such as SEAR 1 events. Due to its unique authorities, skills and investigative capabilities, HSI is often the federal coordinator for large events, such as Super Bowl LIX.

Through the dedication and expertise of our skilled team of law enforcement professionals, HSI ensures that the public, event organizers and participants can experience these events with peace of mind, knowing that the American public’s safety and national security remains HSI’s top priority.

Contact local law enforcement if you witness something concerning or call 911 if you believe there is immediate danger. Go to ready.NOLA.gov to sign up for safety alerts.

HSI’s public safety operations are supported by a wide variety of employees, each playing a critical role in creating a secure environment.

  • Special Agents and Special Response Teams (SRTs) are deployed to the event and are ready to handle high-risk situations.

  • Intelligence analysts assess risks, analyze threats and provide actionable intelligence that shapes security strategies, enabling HSI to adapt effectively to emerging and evolving threats.

  • Operational support staff use advanced technology to analyze evidence, verify identities and secure infrastructure and communications.

  • Administrative staff coordinate the logistics of complex operations, ensuring that personnel, equipment and resources are where they need to be.

  • Leaders and coordinators oversee the entire operation, ensuring seamless collaboration among local, state and federal entities, as well as private-sector partners.

Each member of the HSI team, whether working in the field or behind a desk, contributes to a unified effort that allows events to proceed without disruption.
